How ReputationPurge Works

The technology behind your privacy protection.

What are data brokers?

Data brokers are companies that collect your personal information — home address, phone number, email, relatives, employment history, and more — from public records, social media, loyalty cards, and other sources. They then sell this information to marketers, employers, landlords, debt collectors, and even stalkers.

There are over 87+ known data broker sites. Most people have listings on dozens of them without knowing it.

How ReputationPurge removes your data

  1. 1

    Scan — We find you

We search each data broker site using your name and location to find listings. This uses both automated search queries and our own search monitoring infrastructure.

  2. 2

Automate — Our bots submit opt-outs

For each listing found, our Playwright-powered automation bots navigate to the broker's opt-out form, fill it in with your information, and submit it. For sites that require email confirmation, we automatically click the confirmation links using our controlled inbox.

  3. 3

    Verify — We confirm removal

After the broker's stated processing time, we revisit your listing URL to verify removal. We take a screenshot as proof and update your dashboard with confirmed removal status.

  4. 4

Monitor — We keep you off, forever

Data brokers continuously re-acquire data. We re-scan every 60 days and resubmit opt-outs for any new listings that appear.

What we can't automate

A small number of sites require things we can't automate on your behalf:

  • Government-issued ID uploads — Sites like LexisNexis require a photo ID. We provide step-by-step instructions for these.
  • Facial recognition databases — PimEyes requires submitting your own photo. We flag these and provide guidance.
  • Mugshot sites — Some require fax or certified mail. We provide templates.
